Earlier this year, Abhilasha Purwar, Founder and CEO of Blue Sky Analytics, a climate intelligence company building an API-based catalogue of environmental datasets by leveraging satellite data, AI, and cloud, was named in the 2022 cohort of "Catalysts" by Bloomberg New Economy. Abi, a Yale and IIT alum, founded Blue Sky Analytics in 2018 as she believes that “data has the capacity to change an entire ecosystem". She deems Blue Sky as a focal point for enabling global climate action with high-quality, accessible environmental data.
Bloomberg New Economy Catalysts is a distinctive global group of breakthrough innovators, visionaries, scientists, policymakers and entrepreneurs who are inventing possibilities for a more inclusive and prosperous world. Launched in 2021, the community is both a celebration of and a launchpad for ideas, providing access to a growing think tank of influential leaders and opportunities.
“As extreme climatic events reach a crescendo in terms of frequency and intensity, it has become imperative for companies and countries to take part in the climate action movement. At Blue Sky, we believe that credible data is the cornerstone of effective climate action. However, the lack of availability of high-quality climate data is hindering this change. We founded Blue Sky Analytics in 2018 to address this very gap. It is indeed an accomplishment to be recognised by Bloomberg as our aim has always been to build Blue Sky into ‘The Bloomberg for Climate Data’”, said Abhilasha Purwar, Founder and CEO, Blue Sky Analytics
Bloomberg's Editorial team selected this standout group of 28 individuals from 16 different countries and regions from more than 300 nominations based on impact in one of six key areas: Agriculture: Feeding the World; The Green Transition: Transport, Industry & Energy; Digital Finance: Inclusive Growth; Life sciences: Future of Health; Learning: Fulfilling Human Potential; Space: Improving Life on Earth.
"The new class of Bloomberg New Economy Catalysts are brilliant innovators and thinkers who are reshaping economies and societies with their bold ideas - and their determination to put those ideas into practice. They've been selected for the tangible impact they have each had already - and for what they might collectively achieve in the future as a dynamic global community," said Stephanie Flanders, Senior Executive Editor for Economics and Government at Bloomberg and Editorial Chair of New Economy
The cohort of catalysts regularly convened over the past few months and attended the fifth annual flagship Bloomberg New Economy Forum hosted in Singapore in November.
