Climate-tech startup Blue Sky Analytics appoints Ex MSCI India head, Chandru Badrinarayanan as Strategic Advisor
Jan. 31, 2022, New Delhi — Blue Sky Analytics, which provides satellite-derived climate data useful for various financial institutions, corporations and policy makers, is excited to announce the appointment of Ex-MSCI India business head, Chandru Badrinarayanan as a strategic advisor. Chandru brings more than 30 years of financial industry expertise to expand Blue Sky’s technology and products to markets across the world.
Chandru is Managing Partner at ECube Investment Advisors and founder of New Age ESG & Climate Action Pvt Ltd, providing strategic advice to new-age firms. He is also a contributor to sustainable finance policy, in India and abroad. Chandru aims to help Blue Sky Analytics to actualize the potential for accurate and intelligent climate data in TCFD related opportunities in the financial and non-financial sector as well as open up new segments and use cases. Blue Sky Analytics produces high-resolution satellite intelligence data which is greatly relevant for monitoring, measurement, and mitigation of Physical Climate Risks as per the TCFD framework and for various other use cases in verification and prediction of Climate risks.
Blue Sky Analytics is backed by Japanese VC Beenext, Rainmatter (fintech fund & incubator of Zerodha), and the Stanford Angels. They are also the founding member of the Climate TRACE initiative by Al Gore to execute asset-level emissions monitoring across the globe.
With an experience of over 30 years in launching and scaling high-margin businesses across the financial services spectrum and with his deep experience and sharp insights into ESG & Climate Change from various facets, Chandru brings in additional depth and breadth to products and services of Blue Sky Analytics.

About Chandru Badrinarayanan
Chandru Badrinarayanan is the founder of New Age ESG & Climate Action Pvt Ltd., which provides strategic advice on ESG & Climate to New Age firms. Change. He is also Managing Partner at ECube Investment Advisors. Before this, he served in executive leadership positions at MSCI as the country head for India and senior director at Crisil (an S&P company).
At MSCI, he rapidly grew MSCI’s Index, ESG Ratings, and analytics business in India and at Crisil, he added new lines of business like risk solutions, corporate vendor & dealer evaluations, and assurances, solar gradings, fixed Income indexes, and valuations.
He is a special invitee to the technical working group on Regulations for Sustainable Finance, constituted by the Ministry of Finance, Government of India. He is also a member of the global policy and the reference group of UNPRI.
He is an alum of INSEAD Business School and a CFA from ICFAI. He also has completed programs on climate change from the Asian Investor Group on Climate Change and on Fintech and Strategic Innovation from INSEAD Business School.
